Today, I got pulled over for a busted tail light. The officer gave me a warning and told me to fix it. Ten minutes later I was pulled over again for the same busted tail light by the same cop. This time he wrote me a ticket. FML

Today, the blinker on my car was broken so I decided to play it safe and drive a different car to work. I guess it wouldn’t have mattered which car I drove, as the cop nicely told me one of the headlights was out when he pulled me over. FML

Today, I got pulled over for speeding and got a $200 ticket. After I pulled away, I decided to warn the next car about the cop up ahead by flashing my headlights. The next car was another cop. He didn't appreciate my "help". FML

Today, a state trooper ticketed me after learning I was ticketed for the same offense an hour earlier, namely driving with a broken headlight. The good news is that both tickets will be dismissed if I go to court. The bad news is that I'd have to go to different courthouses at the same time of day. FML

And cops also go 80 down the road at night without their sirens on. Cops do dangerous and illegal things all the time on the road and since they enforce the laws, no one can stop them. I feel your pain OP

Maybe he was just on a call to save a baby from a crazy mom and the mom backed into his headlight with her car. It could have been anything I'm just giving you an example. Cops are mostly good. You never know.

Tell them in court. They can look up the maintenance record for that vehicle and see when his light was fixed. And because his was out you will not be held accountable for the ticket.

The exact same thing happened to me when I was 16 and on one of my first solo drives ever. I almost peed my pants out of fear when I told the cop that his light was busted. He let me off with a warning and that's the last time I ever beat a ticket.
