If you miss too many classes, you might as well not be taking the course. If you don't need this class, drop it. If you do need it, you should have read the syllabus, seen that you wouldn't be allowed to miss all the classes you would need to miss, and dropped the class anyway - you can take it during another semester when you AREN'T doing field experience.
its barely Oct. How many classes have you missed already? YDI if you've been skipping class
Depending on where in the United States you live, classes can start for the year in August or September and can go until May or late June.
organisedchaos: I believe teh start of the year is determined by the summer holidays (which are the long holidays) and that's what determines the year. It's easy for those in the Southern Hemisphere to think that the new year is what determines the start of teh school year, but it's just coincidence that our new year is at the same time as the summer holidays. It's actually determined by the seasons, which is why in America school starts in the middle of the year.
Uh, hello? If your teacher had to email you to tell you that you would be dropped if you missed another class (and it's only October) you must have already missed a lot of classes. Someone should have planned ahead and not skipped class so many times.
Well, you should have chosen your skips more wisely. If your attendance record weren't so poor, your professor wouldn't be mad about this one reasonable excuse. GO TO CLASS and this wouldn't be an issue if this were a one-time thing.
Either talk to the dean, or try talking to your teacher, and if she kicks you out, appeal it.
Okay, I'm going to actually be reasonable about this instead of just assuming like a lot of other people are... OP: The other times you've missed this class, has it been for field experience? Did you let the prof know at the beginning of the semester? Also, is this class essential to your graduation, and not in the sense of it provides credits towards graduation but is not part of your degree programme?

I've encountered similar situations before. Your professor can't drop you from the class, or penalize your grade, for an excused absence. Speak with someone higher up, such as the Dean. Professors can't rewrite the rules.
Your professor will care when you bring it to the dean's attention that a professor is going against him/her. The professor has the right to do what they want especially if it's stated in the syllabus but if you have permission from the dean...dean trumps professor.
