Today, I saw my friend's car in front of school. I'd had a bad day and just wanted to talk with her. I got in and sat down, and felt something squish beneath me. Turns out it wasn't actually my friend's car, and I'd just sat on a random woman's cake. FML

Just as well she didn't have a roll of barbed wire on the passenger seat - how could you not look where you were sitting?

I feel like this should be the cakes FML.. Today, I was sitting on the front seat of my owners car when some dim wit got in and sat on me, now i'm feeling flat. FML R.I.P Cake

I did more or less the same thing when I was a kid: my sister and I were waiting outside our apartment building for my grandfather to pick us up so we could have dinner together, and it was already dark (the street lights were broken). I was a very impatient child, so as soon as I saw a car that looked familiar approaching us, I didn't think twice before opening the passenger door and yelling "GRANDPA, WHY ARE YOU SO LATE??" It's only after I noticed the books in the passenger seat that it finally dawned on me that it wasn't my grandpa who was driving the car, but one of my -very confused- neighbors who was coming back home after his university classes. My sister was laughing her ass off, and I let the poor guy go away after excusing myself profusely. That is to teach us to be more patient and pay more attention to things!

Maybe she posted an FML about the same thing!

Sorry OP but it happens. I took my son and his gf out to eat last week. Before we left, I went to the bathroom. I gave my keys to my son and they went on to the car. I came out and they weren't in the car, so I figured they had run into the video game store. I used my spare key to start my car and wait. They finally came running up to the car. Turns out they had been sitting in someone else's car the whole time(about ten mins). Apparently my car key will also unlock another Ford Focus. Luckily the "Dad" sign hanging from the mirror clued them in before the owner showed up.

And that's why most people lock their cars. Especially with cake inside...
