i made an account just so i could comment on this: to everyone who keeps saying that s/he deserves it... get a life. i wouldn't pay 12 dollars for parking just in order to go work for a whole day. a mile isn't that far so its not crazy to go that far to find a cheaper parking spot... being late happens and again 12 dollars is ridiculous expecially in days like these... i can get an entire meal for under 12 dollars im not going to pay that much to park my car. youre all being extremely rude. and as for the rain, that detail is obviosuly needed because if it was a bright sunny day then they probably wouldn't have minded half as much.
I agree that if you parked illegally and failed to notice the signs that I'm sure were there, then you deserve the ticket. However, I must point out this absolutely outrageous comment: "yeah I thought so too, why is everyone being cheap so lately" Are you absolutely kidding me? There couldn't BE a MORE appropriate time to be, as you would shallowly call it, "cheap." MILLIONS of people are being forced to seriously, seriously watch their expenses these days. Such a comment is outright stupid and inconsiderate. I can't believe someone not wanting to pay $12 a day for parking would be labeled as a cheap bastard...you guys are quite retarded. That being said, if you're trying to cut expenses, parking illegally is certainly not the way to do it. As you learned, you're hurting your wallet more. Oh, and lastly, in response to this comment: "that's literally the dumbest thing ever....if you have to walk a mile to get to work then you might as well pay the damned $12" Firebird, do you suffer from obesity by any chance? Are you incapable of walking more than 10 feet? I am a chainsmoker who already has a history of respiratory problems, yet a one mile walk is still absolute cake. I can't believe America's gotten to the point where someone is ridiculed for walking a mile to work...retardation at it's finest. Still, painfully stupid comments aside, you still get a YDI from me because you shouldn't park illegally. It's very possible you didn't see any notices, but perhaps this will teach you to look harder next time.
Everyone that says YDI, **** YOU! $12 a day is ridiculous for parking to go to work!
rxxk, I agree that $12 is absurd (at least for those of us without money falling out of our skin)...but the matter of YDIs is not about whether or not the $12 is worth it. As I said, I agree with not paying $12, but he/she did deserve the ticket because they parked illegally. Just as if you park in a handicap spot unlawfully, then you deserve the fine. So my YDI was a sympathetic one. As for some of the other YDIers, well I already made a comment about that.
harm bad idea
There have literally been like 50 FMLs exactly like this in the past week or so. I'm getting extremely tired of reading them. Have some originality people!
you'd seriously walk a MILE to avoid paying $12? i know it sucks paying for parking, but there's a limit. $12 > walking a mile to and from your car.
No it doesn't. Unless you are really lazy, fat, or just out of shape... 1 mile walk is definitely better than paying $12 just for a peice of concrete you keep your car on for ~8 hours...

You don't get a parking ticket for no reason. You get a parking ticket if you parked wrong, or you parked in a no parking zone, or if you park in a spot that there's no parking during a certain time of the day. If you can't be bothered to read the damn signs, then YDI. You know what I did, when I realized it would be impossible for me to find on campus parking at my school at 10am? I paid for parking the first day, and then I went driving around to find the closest FREE legal street parking. Yeah, it's a mile away. And no, I won't get a ticket, because I READ THE PARKING SIGNS and know when it's illegal to park, and when it's not. So I don't get tickets.
