Today, I sent a cute, jokey text to my girlfriend saying, "Just in case the world ends, I love you." Not only did she dump me because I was an "idiot for believing in the doomsday", which I don't, she also wrote a Facebook status about it. Now everyone thinks I'm mentally unstable. FML

If she broke up with you over something trivial as a text message I would have to say you're better without her.

Well if the world does end your embarrassment won't last long.

If she was a true girlfriend, she would know you don't believe in the world ending today & she would get your humor. You're better off.

Maybe she just needed an excuse to break up. Forget her. I'm sure you can do better. Good luck.

She should know you better than that, OP. Honestly it sounds like she just wanted an excuse, and she was very cruel about it also! Find someone who appreciates you and forget about her.

Post the link of this FML on facebook. At least you'll win over some friends.

Maybe you had it coming and that was her chance to dump you (as stupid as the reason was). Sorry OP

Aww, I'm sorry. You deserve someone better. That's actually really cute and sweet of you.

Always read an FML thoroughly before commenting.

That was not at all cute or jokey. It just said that you don't have the balls to say "I love you" to her in a meaningful way. While many girls like a guy with a sense of humor, they don't want you to **** around with the "I love you" moment. That's one time to put away the jokety-jokes.

Really? That's odd cause my bf always jokes around with the "I love you" stuff and I like it. It makes me laugh AND I know he loves me. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

#57, I'll bet all the joking was AFTER the real, serious "I love you" moment. Once you open yourself up and state your true feelings to someone, then you can have fun with it. The way I read this story is that the OP had never really told her that he loved her for real.

I suppose I have been with my bf for near 3 years so it is different than if it was the first time he told me. I guess we read it differently. I thought this wasn't the first time he said it and you did. Thinking about it from your point of view it makes a little more sense.

Somebody seems to enjoy jumping to conclusions based on nothing.

Dumping you is one thing, but a Facebook status too? She doesn't sound like a very nice person.
