Today, I thought I'd locked my house keys in my locker at work. Not having any replacement nearby, I decided to cut the padlock with the saw of my pocket-knife. It took 20 minutes and four cuts into my hand to destroy the padlock. It took another five seconds to find the missing key in my jacket. FML

Keeping hour house keys in a locker is kind of an oxymoron but can't you have them on a lanyard or a carabiner so they are on you at all times?

I know you'll get dislikes for the comment but i see your logic mine are always on a carabiner

Maybe his job is something that requires he look professional or otherwise not have keys jangling around his neck all day. For example, I work in animal care & I can't even wear my work badge at work because somebody's fell off in an exhibit once and the animal could have tried to eat it.

Sounds like a stoner move. LOL. I hope you're OK, OP!

I mean a lot of these things that people say YDI to are actually just some everyday mistakes, sure, OP could have just checked her/his pockets but in reality, this is just a common mistake! FML OP but try to be more observant next time

Sorry, you used your pocket knife to saw through a padlock? You have just ruined your knife and a perfectly fine padlock. YDI

How did you open your padlock in the first place? Why didn't you just open it again instead of sawing through it?

I'd be more concerned that you were able to saw through the padlock in 20 minutes with a pocket knife saw! That must have been a really crap padlock found at a dollar store or else you have an awesome knife with a metal saw that actually works on hardened steel.

Why would you not check all of your pockets before cutting the lock?

Why didn't you hold the lock in such a way that you're sawing away from yourself, so you don't hurt yourself?? Did no one teach you knife holding rules?
