Today, I told my boyfriend that I was going to stop drinking, since I have been having some problems with alcohol and some of my relatives are alcoholics. He later broke up with me, saying he couldn't be with someone who "chose to be boring." FML

He is the boring one because he thinks you need alcohol to have a good time!

I'm sorry OP. Don't listen to that turtle dick. I know plenty of exciting sober people. Good for you for making an effort! Good luck!

Oh OP, first of all, good for you! Second of all, don't listen to that turtle dick. Your health and life quality is a lot more important than someone who would leave over a small shift in the relationship. I know lots of exciting sober people. Good luck on your road to recovery. :D

Whoops, double posted... Sorry guys, my app was having issues. .-.

I know right! I'm having issues with this app tonight too.

Obviously he's the boring one if he thinks getting drunk is the only way to have a good time.

You'll do better with a guy who's not a loser honey. Good for you for taking care of yourself.

Your boyfriend should know there are plenty of ways to bring out your fun. Like going to Dave and Busters.

Sounds like an arse who is as shallow as a puddle. Hold your head up high and be happy that you have taken control of your life. Well done!

Good on you; you'd lose more if you became an alcoholic.

I know exactly how you feel. My father's side of the family is also prone to drinking. As a result, most of them are fat, broke, plagued with health problems, and have had at least one child out of wedlock/before turning 18. Don't worry about the ex-boyfriend. Your sobriety is more important. If he wants to prevent boredom this way, it's his life and his liver. Don't give up!

My extended family was plagued by alcohol as well until they wised up. They never looked back.

How can you be "prone to drinking"? It's not a disease.

If your family were drinkers too, you would know that indeed alcoholism is a real disease!!
