Today, I told my parents I no longer believe in the religion they strictly raised me under. They responded by kicking me out of the house. I'm broke, jobless, and the only person that will take me in is my psycho ex-girlfriend who never got over me. FML

I'm all for standing up for one's beliefs, but if you knew your parents were that strict on their own, you should have at least waited until you were financially stable to say anything.

Exactly what did you expect your parents to say? "Well done son, don't worry, we don't mind that your going to hell" Of course their going to be pissed. I'm not saying their right, but that was such a stupid thing to do. You should have waited until you moved out to drop a bombshell like that.

Apparently 2985 people are heartless. Parents are supposed to love their children, not hate them because of their beliefs.

yeah, jobless and broke are not the best conditions for rocking the boat. while I support your religious independence, that was just dumb. ydi

...and how old are you...? Parents flipping like that either means a) that their religious psychos who dont know the first thing about being Christian (or Catholic for that matter) or b) you are still fairly young... ...hope no ones offended by my assumption that OP is either one the aforementioned...

Both Catholics and Protestants are Christians. I agree with you, though, that if OP's family professes any form of Christianity, theirs is the kind that has little to do with Christ.

how can anyone say op deserves it?! his family disowned him for there crazy religion! thats awful op. im sorry you are stuck with ur crazy ex....it will get better

77 - While what you say is mostly true, some places ... err... most places... have high unemployment rates and OP may have been looking for months, or even a year or more for a job. I have a similar situation; I haven't been able to find work since last August. It's been over a year, and yes, I do regularly job hunt. Jobs just aren't available. Let's go on this tangent. What if the OP was 16? A lot of places are not willing to hire someone so young (though fast food places, even though they're not always hiring do hire that young). Another point is that a lot of places are not willing to hire someone with little to no experience. If they're 16, it's likely that this would be their first job. They're more than likely going to have a hard time finding anywhere other than fast food until they're older, and like I said fast food joints aren't always hiring. That happens to be the case where I live. On the flip side, if OP is 18 (or older, since a lot of post-secondary students are living at home... like me!) then yes, they should have some work experience and therefore some amount of saved up money. Though, it's hard to find an apartment that young, especially if you haven't any friends who are willing or able to move in with you. Back to my long-winded point. OP isn't necessarily a mooch because they're living at home (or were...).

Organized religion is run by men who think they are more special than the rest of the population, and believe they have direct access to God. A wonderful way of controlling the masses.
