Today, I took a video of a fellow employee doing nothing but watching YouTube videos at work. When I showed the video to my boss, hoping he'd be reprimanded, I got fired for operating video equipment on company grounds. FML

That's brutal. Perhaps anonymity is the way to go.

Ohio doesn't have a whistle blower statute?

Pretty sure whistle blowing is for corporate fraud and other illegal activities. Not someone violating a company policy to report another violation.

I honestly can't see how this could possibly not be your fault. If you were going to snitch you should have just done it instead of breaking the rules yourself.

Why did you do that? Maybe your coworker was ahead of schedule in his assigned tasks and could afford to take it easy..

The boss was probably disturbed by the lengths you'll go to get someone fired. Clearly, you can be ruthless to get your way. He fired the sociopath in you. I'd fire you too. What next? You'll be snitching on execs to the media.

Unless he wasn't doing his job, it was none of your damn ******* business! You came here expecting sympathy, instead all we're going to give you is disgust. He's a coworker, man, not Al-Queda, you don't need to ******* spy on him!

Unless his job was to watch YouTube videos all day, he wasn't doing his job.

Sometimes it's just better to mind your own business
