Today, I took my wife and newborn baby girl home from the hospital. While waiting for the elevator, an elderly couple leaned over, saw our baby, and said, "Look, it's the fat kid that was in the nursery." My baby is six and a half pounds, and my wife hasn't stopped crying. FML

How is this an FML? The chubby babies are usually the cutest and the healthiest. Fat babies are the best.

6.5 pounds is not fat! I was like 6 lbs 11 when I was born and I'm not the biggest person around..and who says that to a new mother? Old people these days...

well, considering I was 3.5 lbs and 12 weeks early, yeahhhh. 6.5 is perfectly normal. My sis was 9 lbs, 10 oz when she was born.

That's so ******* annoying. I wish old people would stop thinking being old gets them a free pass from a good lecturing about what's appropriate to say in public, and what they should use their "inside voices" for. Your wife's probably just stressed, and besides, everyone gets upset when people criticize their child. I mean, your wife did just grow that thing in her stomach for 9 months and then push it out through a hole that's usually only a centimeter wide, she's going to be upset. Make sure to tell her that all healthy babies have baby fat and that your baby is actually pretty small. I was 7.9 lbs when I was born and nobody said I was fat. You're such a good person, if I was in your position I would have at the very least given them a snort and a dirty look.
