As a stylist and colorist, your first mistake was trying to go blonde at home with dark hair. There is a reason we go to school for it :). Also, putting your hair in a bun would not let it process well, especially if you didn't make sure it was properly saturated with the color, which is very hard to do yourself. Good luck in the future!
Thank you from another hairstylist!! Never do your hair at home!!
All it sounds like to me was that you didn't verify well enough that all of your hair was coated in it. A lot of times when people try to go blonde on their own it will end up orange, unless you are already blonde. Next time, if you can afford it, go to a good salon and have them do it when you are going dark to light and are not going to dye your hair red or a light brown (where the orange really isn't a big deal). You could probably fix it by bleaching the bit that didn't get affected by the bleach and go for a light red or a brown, it isn't exactly blonde, but it is still lighter. And you won't have to worry about the orange without having to bleach your head twice. Make sure to use a hell of a lot of conditioner too so you can get moisture back in your hair (dying hair can really dry your hair out, I always end up using a lot of conditioner after I have washed the colour out of my hair because otherwise it is so dry).
It's called you didn't go to your hairdresser
Sounds festive.
My natural hair colour is blonde. So I went from blonde to dark brown, and I had to bleach it and then put a blonde dye in it. So if you went from natural black hair you would have to bleach your hair once or twice and then put a blonde dye in it. Just wait a few days before you put the blonde in. You might get hair dye poisoning.
I've bleached and colored my hair myself dozens of times, sometimes it doesn't come out the way I wanted and I learn something from screwing up. Perks of being a lazy guy though, I can always just take the clippers to it and try again in a couple months while recouping the money by saving on shampoo costs lol.
If you have naturally black hair and you're trying to go blonde, you have got to go to a professional.
1 black hair you gotta bleach, then dye. if the black hair isn't natural you have to strip the color and 2, you put it in a bun, I would of just used a clip doesn't hold onto the hair tightly.
You're a dumbass, you have to bleach it, and if your hair is naturally black you'll have to bleach it multiple times before its and even blonde
Proper grammar too!
Color doesn't lift color. If you're going blonde from black you have to bleach. Natural underlying pigment in hair is always red, depending on what level you lift to. Coming out orange and whatever other color you had just means it needs toned. Coming out in 4 different shades means it wasn't completely saturated, and wasn't applied correctly. Putting it in a bun is a bad idea with chemicals. It can cause breakage due to tension

Um yeah, if you had black hair you have to bleach it first....that was your first mistake.
Yeah. Even if you were bleaching it, and not dying it, like you said you were, going from a natural dark color to a blonde typically won't yield desired results. Especially not with an at home kit. You're better off spending the money to have it professionally done.
