Today, I uploaded the first chapter of my best writing yet to a popular writing website. After ten minutes, I was thrilled to already see one review and five comments. Each comment was telling me to immediately delete the story because of how horrible it was. The rating was half a star. FML

Did you do a fanfic of 50 Shades of Grey? Who am I kidding that would become a bestseller.

Don't worry. It might have just been people with different tastes that read and commented on it, or, if you truly are bad, most people start off not good at things and then get better. I'm not a very good writer, but I am better than when I first started, and, I've been drawing all my life, my drawings when I was really young were terrible, but, I'm getting a lot better at it now.

That's awful OP. It's hard not to get discouraged. My novel has been rejected too many times to count and I just got a short published. All you can do is edit, revise, and try to move forward. I'm curious about the piece you put up though and I give very considerate critiques :)

Perhaps you should stop writing. Forever.

Get involved in another hobby, and when you have a kid make sure the kid knows when he/she is good at something, or bad at something. Trust me, (and you should know now) that knowing things you're bad at will help later on

who cares you tried your best don't let people bring you down. if it's good to you it's good. you ahead and write your heart out

Don't beat yourself up about it. If you like writing just keep at it and it'll get better.

Many great Authors had their first manuscripts rejected

Try to find out what's wrong with it and go from there. Obviously they're brutally honest, so if you find out your flaws you can fix them. Instead of being hurt or offended, think of this as an opportunity to improve!
