Today, I walked to Starbucks. On the way a homeless guy asked me for change and I lied and said I had no money. On my way back, Strawberry Frappuccino in hand, the same guy recognized me. He followed me for 3 blocks, swearing and yelling at me. FML

you're not obliged to give your money to a bum anyway!

Haha. This happened to me once, just keep on walking and drop a couple of quarters to keep him occupied while you make an escape.

how the hell is there more YDIs for this one than FYLs? the OP did not deserve this and all the dumbasses who say he/she should have given him money should realize that the homeless guy is not just entitled to get money whenever he asks for it. he should get himself a ******* job and stop begging and thinking he deserves other people's hard-earned money

That's why you just ignore them. ;)

I agree with not giving them money. That would most likely go to drugs or alcohol. However, you should have offered to buy him something to eat, like an apple, or banana or something. If he accepts, than you've done a good deed. If he doesn't accept, you just saved your money from being used to buy drugs/alcohol.

It's better to lie and say you don't have money than to be rude and say you won't give him any.

I don't know why there's so many YDI's. He/she doesn't have to give a bum money if they don't want to. It doesn't justify him following him/her.

Could have told him u used a card, not your fault he's homeless. Give him the address to the nearest shelter? ... Not a FML

debit all day, every day. sorry homeless man!

Honestly, what's worse? Giving a homeless person a dollar, when they very well may have done something to end up homeless, and might spend the money on drugs/alcohol, or not giving money to someone who may have simply become a victim of this recession (jobs aren't exactly popping up all over the place these days) and will honestly use the money for food/shelter/etc? The way I see it, if I'm driving my car, affording to put gas in it, still have a roof over my head, a fridge full of food, and afford more than just the bare necessities of life, I'm doing a lot better than them, so why not spare a dollar or two. I'd rather give a bit of change to someone who's going to waste it, than not help out someone who actually needs it and would appreciate it...
