Today, I was a TA for a history class and the class was taking a test. About halfway through, I noticed one kid had a small piece of paper in his hand. I ran up the row, grabbed his test, and ripped it into four pieces. Then I took the note from him. It said "I believe in you, -Mom." FML

If that had been me at any point of my school years, you sir, would picking up your teeth. I don't care who you are or how important you think you are, you should be beaten to jelly. No doubt you're older and bigger then this poor kid. Jackass...

@ 17 and 79 Was it mean and heartless of the TA? Yes. Was it undeserving? No. The kid shouldn't have had the note out during the test. Don't blame other people because you aren't allowed to break the rules, and then threaten them. That's a power trip without the power. @ 61 and 76 Yes, it was a dick move, but the note isn't the issue, not being able to follow the rules is.

i think that TA should be fired

People are assuming it's a college student... Fair enough if that's the case, but given it says "kid", and... well just read the note... I imagined high school, young high school. Or are TAs only a college thing...? (Actual question)

I've had TAs in highschool even one in middle school. So no, not just college

wow, you should feel absolutlely horrible about yourself. I would have gotten you fired. Poor kid.

Most schools are pretty strict about cheating, and when they say no other papers or materials on the students desk, they mean it. I think TAs are normally a college thing, and it sounds like something someone from my university would do. Cheer up! Maybe it was a cleverly disguised acronym?

Wow you're a jerk. Poor kid. That note probably meant he was nervous and has some serious self confidence issues. So not only did you put him on the spot and humiliate him in front of the entire class, but you also advertised that his mom has to write him notes of encouragement (nothing wrong with that but he's probably gonna get tortured for it). I hope you feel like crap. I understand that he coulda been cheating.. but simply walking up, asking to see the paper, and walking back would have done just fine.
