Today, I was a TA for a history class and the class was taking a test. About halfway through, I noticed one kid had a small piece of paper in his hand. I ran up the row, grabbed his test, and ripped it into four pieces. Then I took the note from him. It said "I believe in you, -Mom." FML

If you have a test, simply don't take a paper with you, that could be taken for a cheating paper. You should know that. Take a a plush toy instead. I don't understand why everybody is so upset with the OP. Tests mean: only a few pencils and your working paper on the desk.

yeah because she had no idea he wasn't ACTUALLY cheating. she should have apologized after but as a fill-in they did their job albeit in a dumb way.

YDI x 1000 for not checking the note. I hope you let that poor kid retake his test.

You know what? No. The kid deserved it. They know they're not allowed to have anything on them at all, it's his fault for having it

You dirtbag... That's what you get for being a drama queen and ripping up his test, idiot

What is wrong with you? Do you realize if that kid needed to have the note out in the first place his self-esteem must be in really bad shape? Did it ever occur to you to check the note?! I really hope you talked to the professor to do something to try and make it up to the kid (not that anything could quite do that). Maybe make the test a take home for him? Because I'm not sure how he is supposed to take the test now without having a panic attack. I hope you learned a lesson.
