Today, I was at work lifeguarding and saw a kid drowning on the far end of the pool. I decided running would be the quickest way to get to her, but as I ran across the pool deck I slipped and hit my head. The kid's mother jumped in to save her child and then called an ambulance for me. FML

At least all of those kids now know that running around the pool is serious business. YDI for being an idiot. Is it really that hard to swim over there?

lol "I decided running would be the quickest way to get there" Noo Really??

Lifeguard always yell at people for running, they shouldn't either.

...Why wasn't there a lifeguard on the other side?

That was a noble effort. I pray that you get better. You scored a 10 as far as I am concerned. God Bless you.

All of the people commenting here thinks that they're perfect. Stop your unsolicited advises...because they're really laughable.

Don't they usually have 2+ lifeguards at a big pool? I blame the other lifeguard who was probaly closer for not seeing it

Depends how big the pool is. Most pools only need two guards //on deck// when there are 55+ people in the pool. The other would be in the guard room, and therefore not able to get to the victim as quickly.

Lol Rule #1 no running on the pool deck....that sucks though, but at least everyone was ok!
