Today, I was crying at my desk at work. My colleague tried to cheer me up by saying: "Don't worry, I'm sure you will find a new job soon". I didn't even know I was fired. I was crying because my cat died this morning. FML

When it rains, it pours! Best of luck, OP.

So sorry for you loss OP. :'( Adopt a new kitty then find another job. All will be well again soon!

Anyone else think that maybe the coworker assumed she lost her job and was crying at her desk? That maybe she didn't actually lose her job. OP should speak with her boss to see if it's true or not and should say why she was crying at her desk.

Why would she just assume that? Bit of a big conclusion to jump to.

Makes infinitely more sense than OP being fired, not even being told about it, and let back into the building despite being fired.

I'm sorry Op I hope your luck turns around soon

What a dreadful day! So sorry for your losses, OP.

Sorry to hear that. Remember, there is always a rainbow after rain.

YDI for making a ridiculous scene at your job. That's why they probably fired you all of a sudden. They probably saw you emotionally unstable. Who cries when they're on the job? No one cares. Next time, please stop crying about the death of a flea bitten animal and focus on putting bread on the table. Animals come and go. Focus on you. There's always other pets out there. My condolences though, original poster. Good luck in job hunting.

Yeah, good job on the condolences there...

How much you wanna bet that this person never had a pet before?

#59, my guess is they are also a Cyborg. Who hasn't had a bad day and been in a shit mood while working? Your emotions and private life don't just turn off when you're on the job...

If I could just not cry because im working my life would be so much better. Most people with human emotions just can turn them off because of work. Love and people/pets should go first not work. You can find another job you can't replace something that held a place in your heart.

For your information, I had a pet before. It was a dog. Like any other animal or being in this world, it passed away from natural cause. I was working at job at the time which required lots of human interaction. Did I cry like a baby about it? No. Sure, I was sad because dang, it was my dog. But you know what? Life goes on. A deceased animal isn't gonna pay my bills. Sure, they're a cherished pet, but you gotta move on and stop crying about it. It's a part of life. People die. Animals die. Get over it.

Hahaha Cyborg. I wish XD And sure, I had crappy days at work before. But do I cry like a baby about it? No. If OP was a child, I could understand. But he/she is most likely an adult which means, in an adult life you have to face atrocities as they are. Like it or not. It is what it is.

maybe they assumed thats why u would cry at work...

Maybe he didn't know you were fired and just automatically assumed? I mean, I don't know the actual issues there are in your workforce, but maybe he just thought crying at desk = fired.
