Today, I was driving on the freeway when I get a call from my friend explaining that our two best friends died in a car accident. I pulled over in hysterics and a cop came to see what was wrong. I explained what happened and he gave me a ticket for talking on the phone while driving. FML

Today, I was driving when I noticed that the guy in front was on the phone. I pulled up next to him, pulled out my phone and I made a gesture that he needed to put his phone away. It was a cop. I got a ticket for driving while on my cell phone. FML

Today, I was driving on the freeway when I saw a car in front of me swerving across 3 lanes of traffic. Thinking he might be drunk, I dialed 911 on my phone, but I dropped it. I fished under my seat to get it, swerving, and got pulled over by highway patrol and given a field sobriety test. FML

Today, I had to explain to a cop that the reason I was speeding was because my girlfriend was in the hospital due to a car accident. He was working the accident just ten minutes before and saw me leave behind the ambulance. He still gave me a ticket. FML

Today, I saw a car swerving in front of me on the freeway, so I whipped out my cell to report the DUI. As soon as it started ringing, I see police lights in my rear view and got slapped with a ticket for using a cell phone while driving. After explaining why, the officer said, "Nice try." FML

Today, I lost control of my vehicle while driving. The car went off the road, rolled over, and ended up being totaled. The policeman asked me if I was alright and I said I was. He seemed relieved at my answer. Then he handed me a $300 ticket for failing to maintain my lane. FML

Take the ticket into court & yell at them. I'm sure they'll be on your side & won't make you pay. That cop is a dick. I'm sorry, by the way. Please try & be strong. You'll be in my prayers.

While I'm very sorry to hear about such a loss, I feel the need to remind you that many people die each year in car accidents caused by the driver not paying attention, namely while texting/talking on the phone. Talking on the phone or texting is one of THE most dangerous things you can do while driving... in fact, studies have shown that you may even be better off driving drunk. Talking on the phone while driving puts others' lives in serious danger, so you definitely should have pulled over to take the call. Again, I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but what you did while driving was VERY dangerous to yourself and the others around you.

Being on the cell phone while driving is EXTREMELY dangerous. Shitty driver or not, NO ONE can have their full attention on the road while being on the phone. No one. Not even the best, most experienced driver. I have zero tolerance for people who find the need to do ANYTHING while driving other than drive... talk on the phone, text, do makeup, eat, drink, smoke, etc. While you're driving you should be DRIVING, not doing other stuff.
