Today, I was fired for not attending a mandatory meeting. I confronted my boss and told her I never heard anything about it, she told me that daily reminders had been sent out via email for weeks. She then discovered that she failed to enter my email address in the system. I was still fired. FML

Unless you work somewhere that you have a contract for your job, the best you can do is file unemployment. A company can fire you because they decide they don't like the shirt you're wearing one day, there's nothing mandating that they keep you employed.

That sucks OP. Don't sue! Burn her house down!

probably becuase your such a chode dragon

everyone should chill the **** out you damn bastards no need to bitch any way its true americans sue all the time so WAHHH WAHHH WAHH SHUT THE **** UP

That is horrible!! I used to be thinking about asking for a transfer over to your neck of the woods with my company, but the more I have looked into it, the more I have gone off it. Simply because IF something would happen, I'd stand there unprotected. Can't believe she could just fire you like that. What a bitch for not owning up to her own mistake.

First of all, the majority of people who say "Americans are sue-crazy" are probably the same people who think CNN and MSNBC are perfectly objective, and that there is no bias in the news. On average, out of 10,000 possible civil suits, only 3 will go to court. Three. That said, there is no "wrongful termination" suit here. Right to work states killed that suit. You have no recourse except for to file for unemployment, which is paid for by your ex-employer. Aside from the federally protected issues (race, religion, etc), you're screwed.

your idiot boss just wants to cover up for her own mistake. you could just report it.

if in her written termination statement it says it was due to the absence of the meeting then you have grounds for a lawsuit. if not then you can still try and get witnesses if at all possible.
