You really shouldn't mix business with pleasure in the first place so you kinda deserve it.
Duh, that's nepotism and shouldn't be supported. I wouldn't hire my friends or family or family's friends. A) I probably couldn't be fair towards them when compared to others, and B) other employees would know this and feel unjustly treated. Even if the person absolutely deserved a promotion, I'd have other employees getting mad over the apparent nepotism. It just doesn't work.

you can prob actually make a complaint for that. he doesn't have any work related reason and he can't fire you for personal issues
