You know finders keepers isn't a legal defence for theft right? Someone identified it as being their property, and OP chose to take it anyways. That is theft.

actually it is... unless they have proof it is there property or you witnessed them having ownership of it :)

Anything short of attempting to find the real owner, or turning the item into the police can be considered theft.

People do get stuck in traffic for two hours. It happens all the time, especially in very large cities. Yes, money floats. It's light and can easily be caught by the wind. It has to go some direction, so why is it impossible it floated to the OP? It's a valid reason to fire him, seeing as he was calling after the OP and the OP pocketed it anyway. Morality clauses in company contracts give them the ability to terminate employees for misdeeds done outside of work and such. Not claiming the FML -MUST- be true, but it's all plausible.
