how does the poster deserve this one? she didn't know there actually WAS a midget anywhere around. and she wasn't trying to be offensive in any way. and in response to 54, this is normally how people would speak. maybe the term "midget" is offensive, but even if it is bad most people call very short people midgets. this FML is relatable because a lot of people use the term midget.

I feel like too many people are jumping on the OP for using the term midget. Most ordinary people on the street have no idea that the term is offensive. One of my best friends is legally, height wise, a midget, and she proudly calls herself a gidget (girl midget). So yeah, OP didn't know. It's not their fault. He/She just made a comment -one that a lot of people probably would have made without thinking twice- at the wrong moment in time, which I'm sure you've all done.

I accidentally clicked the "You deserve it". You don't. I've been in sorta similar situations. Any time I say anything that could even be possibly misinterpreted as offensive to a particular group, someone of that group is ALWAYS within earshot, and they ALWAYS take offense. Even something as mild as laughing about shitty Hondas and calling 'em rice rockets. That one got me slapped. By a stranger.
