So what OP, even if assume she did not notice your presence until now, with this project you can make your mark. Good luck.
The thing I learned in life is that if you have a crush on someone for years and they never return the feeling, you're wasting your time. It's better to turn your attention to the people around you to fine someone who already appreciates you. Or better yet, don't focus on anyone and be open to all possibilities.
I'd see it as a positive, this is your chance to present your best qualities to her without her troubling memories of the time you pooped yourself in class 5 years ago or whatever crushing your style!
Is your name Sam Witwicky?
Ouch
In your years of pining, you should have spoken to her before now. Treat her like a person, and maybe you'll have a chance.
Normally you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Since she apparently has a bad memory you get a second chance, lucky you!
From her perspective.. "Today I was paired with my crush, I got nervous and asked him if he was a new student (even though) I've known him since kindergarten.
well obviously you hadnt introduced yourself or spoken to her before :p but now she knows take this oppertunity and run with it!!!!

Well, better late than never...her observation skills are a little lacking.
Is she blind?
