Today, I was pitching at a fastpitch softball game. The other team chanted about the ball being too high and almost hitting the batter in the eye. After throwing the next pitch, the ball was savagely returned by the batter, straight into my eyes. FML

I thought you were trained to keep your eye on the ball, not the other way around.

I guess you never saw that one coming! XD sorry lol

My friend got hit in the face in the same way, but he broke his nose. I assume it could have been worse for you.

OP here... It shattered the bones on one side of my face. I had to have facial reconstruction done. But in a way, I was lucky. They said the bone just missed my brain. So you're right; it could've been worse.

0 Confirmed out of 0 FMLs. You're not the OP...

That's because I posted anonymous. You know, you still post fml's logged out!

Sounds like someone wasn't in a good mood.

I know someone this happened to, it broke her cheek bone and cracked her socket.

did she get a penilty for that? Are you okay? FYL indeed

There aren't penalties for things like that in softball. About the only things you can't do is start a fight and mouth off to the umpire. Then you get ejected. Plus some people can't control where they hit.

That's like going for a block in basketball and breaking a finger. It wasn't the other persons fault so they can't do anything about it

A penalty, really?! You cant penalize the girl for hitting it hard! There is nothing that happens they keep going with the play until it has stopped.

Well, I can say I lived to tell my story. lol. But seriously, I'm ok now. It's sweet of you to ask though! :)

What the **** are you talking about? You aren't the OP.

How would you know? This post was anomymous.

Dang! I know that hurts. I pitch too, and some hits come back at almost 100 MPH. I'm sorry, OP, but at least you'll have nice bruises and possibly broken bones. Oh, and a good story.

To everyone out there softballs AREN'T soft at all!

WHAT?! Next you're going to tell me footballs aren't feet...

Angelrose2004 17

Unfortunately, I learned that the hard way.

Except 50, if you where op you would know they weren't soft, because you would be a pitcher.

Since its fast pitch the speed of the ball is already pretty fast then add a really hard solid hit you don't have much time to react with how fast the ball is going
