Today, I was playing in a basketball game and blocked this kid's shot. I was really pumped up about it until I realized the kid had cerebral palsy and the coach put him on the team because he really wanted to be on at least one team in his life. FML

I don't think you should feel bad. I'd be pretty upset if I had a disability and everyone played easy on me. That would just be humiliating!

You shouldn't feel bad, you didn't know and I don't see how YDI at all. Plus, the kid was probably happy everyone wasn't just going to let him do whatever.

of course you are going to feel bad, but if this person is playing in a league with regular kids, they shouldn't expect to be treated differently and most likely just want to be treated like the other players. really, it's no big deal :)

wow, # 23 go **** yourself. ur a total disgrace. and it wasnt ur fault, u didnt know. at least the kid got to be a part of a game, thats all the matters.

I think that the coach should have told you, and even if you knew, you should have played treating him fairly, because he wouldn't want an easy win. go **** yourself, #23

you're like Dave Chapelle taking the only joy out of a dying cancer kid's life of thinking he was good at a playstation basketball game.

coach should have told your team in the first place

Who the hell is putting YDI? FYL and FHL!

well he probably would have been more offended if you just played easy on him

i think you did the best thing you could have by not knowing the kid's condition. you didn't go easy on him or take advantage of him, and that's what contributes to the team sport experience.

this is definitely NOT a YDI. the same kind of thing happened to me just a couple months ago. i was in a production of Fiddler on the Roof and we were at this point where the character opposite me tells my father that he loves me. right then, somebody in the audience went AWWWWW really loudly and i totally lost it, snorted, was shaking with suppressed laughter, everything. well my mom came up to me after the show and said, "You know that person you laughed at? They have Downs." I feel your pain.
