64: You're goddam right, I'm blaming the victim. You don't just get to do whatever you want, wherever you want, whenever you want, with no regard for the consequences. If you drive like a freak, you're going to have an accident. If you dress like a ****, you're going to have trouble. If you mouth off to people, they're going to get onery with you. YOU are responsible for YOUR life. This is not a gender thing. This is not a political thing. This is LIFE. The fact that the OP is a girl only changes the specifics. It would have been the same situation if it was a guy in drag. Different comments, different specifics, but the SAME RESULT. So get off your high horse and stop hurting your own cause by throwing out all kinds of distracting B.S. I would have felt just as threatened if I were there by myself and had a couple of guys giving me a hard time. I'm a man. It's not the gender that's the issue. It's being somewhere by yourself with no backup and getting into a bad situation with people you don't know. You don't have to be a woman to be oppressed. And yeah, I would have waited for the bus. It's the safest place to be. LOTS of witnesses. Keep that in mind, guys AND gals. To the OP: On behalf of all of us decent men, I'm sorry I wasn't there or I would have made them leave you the **** alone. Old man or butch dyke, they were being assholes. Sorry they ruined your day. Don't let 'em ruin your life.
hahahhahaa an FML actual worthy of this site THANK YOU =]] #74 is the longest FML comment Ive ever seen
Do people realize that if she had slapped him he could have easily charged her with assault? And #69, yes, there are situations where touching is appropriate, such as when a friend gives you a hug, but you know them and trust them. Or if a stranger pulls you away from an oncoming car your didn't see, because that's for your safety. A hand on the knee while saying "I can afford to buy you" is NOT wanted contact and the sheer fact that he felt like he had the right to is the problem. And #74, I fail to see where the OP noted what she was wearing. It's just assumed that she was dressed like a prostitute because that's the only way she would "deserve" it. Just for your information, the vast majority of rapes and sexual assaults occur when women are NOT dressed suggestively or otherwise "asking for it" as dumb of an expression as that is. Just something to chew on. And of course women aren't the only oppressed people in the world. Lower class people are, people of color, immigrants, etc. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you belong to none of those groups, as evident by the ignorant statements you made.
#74, gender does matter. I'm willing to bet that if you were to walk around shirtless (which constitutes being half naked with your nipples exposed), you wouldn't get any sort of derogatory comments. But if a girl wears a skirt that is even a few inches above her knees, she is, as people here are saying, automatically a "prostitute."
#78: I wasn't talking to the OP. I was talking to #68, who made the same assumptions, along with many others. And YOU are STILL going on and on about rapes and assaults of WOMEN. ASSAULT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT ONLY HAPPENS TO WOMEN. Which was my whole point. Stop trying to be so oppressed. And don't you dare go down the "reverse discrimination" path and try to discredit me based on the ASSUMPTION that I am not at some social/political/racial disadvantage. That's just ad hominem crap.
anyone who has said YDI is stupid. im assuming the boys in the car are teenage boys, and if that is the case, i can definitely see this happening. the girl was just sitting at the bus stop minding her own business when two immature boys drive past and shout something at her so that she notices them. Its not rocket science guys. Im sure you can remember being that age. And then the creeper old man next to her decided to take advantage of the situation..... so how does she deserve this? common...
You deserve it for giving the impression that you were a *****, maybe?
Keywords
FYL because the original guy that you were a prostitute. YDI from the old man because of your response.
You actually admitted in public that you are buyable? Well, what was wrong then with the old guy? You didn't even hear his offer.
