The fact that you're even trying to exercise already puts you ahead of most people.
If you want to be able to exercise more, work small and build up. Nobody would try to lift 200 lbs when they never lifted before in their life. That could even lead to injury.
Probably pushing yourself too hard on the first day. It's quite common actually. You see a lot of people burn themselves out because they push too hard, instead of building up their fitness level. Also, was that exercise regime for 50 year olds who exercise already, or 50 year olds who don't? There are some fit old people out there...
You'll get there! Just be proud that you're out there doing something about it!

It takes persistence and practice! It took more than one day to get out of condition, and it's going to take more than one day to get in condition. Just take it session by session, day by day, week by week. You'll get there!

Hey. Even if you can't do it, you still tried, and that's a lot more than all the people on the couch watching tv can say.
Just do what you can and build on it. The habit/routine is way more important than what you can press. You will be sore tomorrow and probably worse the day after. Lactic acid's a bitch but good excuse for a massage!
