Today, I was upset after a fight with my husband, so I cried alone in the bedroom. My 4-year-old son then comes in and hugs me. I thought he was trying to comfort me, but he then told me he had to go get his quarter my husband had promised to pay him if he made me shut up. FML

My husband gets insensitive like that after we argue still I hope my hubby never does that when we have kids.

He will. Hate to be the one to break it to you, but dickish behavior doesn't magically become undickish once kids enter the picture. I've never understood why people think they can somehow snap their fingers and change their spouses. If he was a jerk when you were dating, he'll still be a jerk after you're married. If he was a jerk before you had kids, he'll still be a jerk after you have them. My advice? Don't. Bad enough that you put yourself in that position; it's even worse to put an innocent kid in the middle of your crappy marriage.

See, this doesn't seem that insensitive to me. The only thing wrong with it is "if he made me shut up," which I'm pretty sure OP made up. Probably the husband felt bad, so he asked his son to go give his mother a hug and said he'd give him 25 cents for doing it. My parents used to do a similar thing--if my mom had a bad day, my dad would tell me to go hug her or tell her I loved her.

In the situation you described, your dad was not the cause of her sadness. If he was, he should get some balls and hug her himself.
