Today, I was woken up from a nap by my cat attacking my face. Evidently, my husband thought it would be funny to shine a laser pointer on my cheek. FML

Cats actually don't attack people or even other cats when the laser light is shining on them. They'll only attack inanimate objects.

Yup, have one and they don't touch the light if it's on people or other animals. My friends and I try this all the time.
