Today, I went back to school after missing the first 2 weeks of the new school year. I got grilled in my first lesson by my teacher for "gallivanting around on holiday in some sunny place" when I should've been at school learning. My dad had died from liver cancer. FML

Today, my teacher announced that he'd be out for a week because he was going to Vegas. I happily said, "Woo hoo!" Then he finished his sentence by telling me it was because his dad had died. FML

Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML

Today, I had to go to my daughter's school because she hasn't been going to class. Her teacher seemed surprised to see me with my husband when we arrived. Apparently I "died" recently and my daughter has had extra responsibility around the house, hence why she doesn't come to class. FML

Today, after I missed in school for two and a half weeks, I also missed three tests. Now I gotta work for all of them during my holidays and read two books for school. My holidays are just gonna be like school, but with more work. FML

Today, I left for college. I spent hundreds of dollars on clothes, bedding and other things. After packing my entire closet and everything else I needed, I left only to have to head back home. My dad forgot to pay the first semesters tuition. He said "Oh well, you would have failed out anyway." FML

Today, I spent my first day with my parents for the first time in a year as I've been away at university. My dad went to work, and my mum spent the whole day playing mahjong with her friends as they all told me "how fat I've gotten" and how "boys won't like it". FML

This is probably one of those very rare instances where you could cuss out your teacher big time and get away with it... after you have explained to the head teacher that you father just died of course.

I study to be a teacher and I can tell your teacher's a total bitch who doesn't know anything about how to deal with her students. That's why we learn some psychology in college! Very sorry for your loss and for the ignorance you had to stand. FYL

Next time you see her, you should bring her a copy of the paper they give you at the funeral and write a little note mentioning under the name saying "My dad". It's hella passive, but you don't deserve her being a bitch. or even better, go talk to the principal about how rude she was to you and how your dad's death was the real reason you were out. I'll bet you she's going to get talked to, and it's best to let the principals know how bitchy a teacher is, especially while they're downsizing.

well it's ok, after my father's death i found out that my scholarship documents that should have been signed by the head of my departement inorder to apply before the due were just lying there in her office unsupervised and that's all because i wasn't able to come and finish them by myself... and when i've confronted her she told me that she doesnt know what i am talking about *BITCH*

sorry my comment got cut off, for some reason. same thing happened to someone i know too. his dad had just died unexpectedly, & when he went back to school the next week, the teacher yelled at him for not having done his homework in front of everyone in the class, not knowing that my friends dad had died.
