Today, I went hiking with my family. A local had told us about the trail, saying the two mile walk would lead us to a seventy-foot waterfall. After seven miles of trekking in the sweltering sun with no food, we finally found the waterfall. It was barely ten feet tall. FML

At least you got some exercise. And a ten foot waterfall is better than no waterfall at all

I thought this FML was going to turn into The Hills Have Eyes.

Maybe you got the trails mixed up and found a different waterfall. But hey you still got to spend time with your family so that seems worth it anyways :)

But hey, think of all the calories you lost :)

Sometimes the locals can be so mean to tourists.

you were lost, I bet you just didn't find the right waterfall.

that sounds like a waterfall in Tucson Arizona

Maps. Even googlemaps would have shown you a route. A local map bought from a shop would have shown you how far the walk would have been, maybe it wouldn't have shown you how tall the waterfall is but you could at least have been aware of the distance.

If I was under the assumption it was only an 8km round trip walk through light scrub I would be inclined to not take food too, then again I always take food. Nothing like reaching your hiking destination and having some 2 minute noodles or tim tams or a vegemite and cheese scroll mmmm
