Today, I went outside for a cigarette since I don't like smoking in the house. When I was done, I stomped it out. I wasn't wearing shoes. FML

Gotta love all the self-righteous assholes who are all 'ydi for smoking lol'. After all, smoking is such an easy habit to throw off. All these damn smokers are clearly unaware of the ramifications and need to be reminded by witless idiots who have no idea how difficult it is to deal with an addiction.

Back in the old days people smoked because they were ignorant of the harmful effects. Now that people are aware that smoking can cause cancer it is THEIR responsibility to make their own decisions. Everybody knows that it's addictive and everybody knows that it can cause longterm damage to your body. I'm not going to be sympathetic of somebody who decided to pick up a cigarette and now can't put them down. That was their decision. But it pisses me off that smoking doesn't just hurt the idiots smoking the cigarettes, but anybody around them.

It isn't hard to quit. It's called will power, my dad smoked for years. Then decided to quit. There has been one time he smoked after that, when a family member died. That was it. He cut it cold.

My grandmother flushed her cigs down the toilet after years of chain smoking, and having a baby (my mom) who was born malnourished and unhealthy due to only recieving the smoke for nine months. She walked away from it after that and never looked back.

I'm tired of everybody thumbing down the people saying op deserved it. So I've compiled a list of reasons why op did indeed deserve to get burnt and why op did not. 1- smoking is BAD for you!! Obviously... It's a stupid habit that people eventually let control their lives. People should have the intelligence to just not start smoking in the first place. 2- smoking is bad for everyone around you. If you go outside and smoke and somebody walks by, then your bad habit harms them. I have a bad habit of cracking my knuckles which puts me at risk for arthritis, but it's not going to effect anybody but me. Secondhand smoke is serious. 3- Use an ashtray for gods sake. Cigarette butts all over the place is disgusting. 4- And last but not least, how the hell didn't you realize you weren't wearing shoes before you stepped on it. You didn't feel a breeze on your feet? Look down before stepping on the cigarette? No? And I wanted to put here a couple reasons why op did not deserve it, but I honestly couldn't think of any. Okay, now thumb me down, but I honesty don't care. Smoking is something I feel strongly about.

Ever think there's a reason we thumbs down stuff? 1. By nature, humans are curious. That's how most smoking addictions begin. Once again, EVERY person with a semi-functional mind knows smokings bad. 2. The habbit's already developed. OP did the right thing by going outside. You're looking too closely at the negative facts. You're not gonna get lung cancer and die on the street because you walked by a smoker. If someone opposed as badly as you do, they could cross the street. 3. Yeah, agreed here. An ashtray would have solved the whole burning foot thing, and cigarette butts are quite dirty... 4. When you go out for a smoke, it's normally because you're being polite, not because you want to stand outside when there's a house a couple of feet away. Why put shoes on if you're only going to be out for a few minutes? And if you were in a rush to get back inside, of course it's possible you'd forget. Stomping on smokes isn't uncommon. Not going to thumbs down your post. You made a good point in that comment. You clearly care, by the way, if you've written it on your post.

If you have asthma, second hand smoke can be very bothersome. Yes humans are curious, even I tried my first one after curiosity. But 1 is 1. You can stop after your first one.

Ugh this comment is to big to be thumbed up from my IPod.

Yes secondhand smoke is harmful in close proximity. By your reasoning just walking out the door is harmful. Cars and other machinery produce more carbon monoxide than one cigarette.

I've never been so annoyed by one person so much in my life. we get it, you don't like smokers. cry about it.

I find that the more people don't smoke, the more sensitive I am to the smell. Now since no one is allowed to smoke in any public place or businesses. Non smokers can really tell how bad it is. Yet smokers can't tell they stink! Before the smell was common everywhere! I can't even sleep In a hotel room that was smoked in! We did that last year and never again!

Oh, I'm sorry 102. Jeez, I shouldn't have told you to read my comment then... Oh wait, I didn't. Just like smokers, you can say no.

186- I completed agree. And they wonder why people try to make it illegal to smoke in public places.

193- If it becomes illegal to smoke in certain places, people will smoke less, and although that's a good thing it also means the government will make less money. Meaning it's not happening. :)

A cigarette burns at about 400*C I think... That must've hurt... So was that enough to make you want to quit? Because you should.

Here's what it is kids: A prior generation had doctors damn near prescribing this product that is now used to torture children with. That is all

Ok, seriously everyone we get it, smoking is BAD! Don't need to keep repeating it. Smokers are aware of this I'm sure. But the reality is that smoking is an addiction. And for everyone who argues "you shouldn't have started in the first place", doctors used to prescribe cigarettes. Ironic but true.

smoking is bad for you mmmmmkay. I love SP.

Now we must start wondering why such a "BAD" product is available when something greener ( ; )) ) is not....stop beating eachother up its what they want people to do you see?

Well it's always nice when people say smoking is bad for you. More like saying your family died in a car crash well to bad shouldn't have been in that car.
