Today, I went to a fast-food joint and ordered off the $1.00 menu to save money. Five hours later I go to the hospital with food-poisoning. After a whole day of not eating, crapping, puking, having tests, and a bunch of IV fluids, my $1.00 burger ended up costing me $2,000 in bills. Really. FML

Move to Canada. It's free. BUT why would you go to the hospital for food poisoning? I've had food poisoning twice before and I didn't go to the hospital.

Move to Canada or Europe! The states needs nationalized healthcare, like the rest of the civilized world. It's a basic civil right, and no matter what your conservative news network tells you, it works great and everyone loves that their brother/parents/grandparents/best friend is taken care of when they get sick or hurt. We have health insurance too, and it takes care of the stuff that nationalized (basic) health care doesn't. You know what happens to junkies who get admitted to the hospital? They're given drugs that make them not high, instantly. They HATE it. And doctors control other orders -- people aren't taking advantage.

Bullshit. It did not cost you $24,000 dollars, unless they had to do a stomach transplant. Either way, get some health insurance.

Is this going to teach you to eat healthy food? Probably not. YDI for eating at a fast food place. Yes, the US does need free health care, but people need to learn to stop eating like retards and stop relying on doctors to fix all their problems. Besides a sprained ankle and a school-required physical, I haven't been to a doctor in about 3 years. Healthcare does not equal health. Eat healthy. Live healthy. That way, you don't screw yourself up like this.

#49. youre supposed to write "today. blahblahblah. fml" to post an fml. he didnt mean it literally happened today

Yeah except I lived in Oxford for a while, and the UK's socialized health care actually doesn't work great at all. I had a friend come down with a horrible, horrible cough. She couldn't barely sleep for a whole week because she was coughing non-stop. Finally got a doctor's appointment, and the doctor wouldn't even look at her. She was just asked what medicine she wanted and was booted out. Now that's great if you just want some medicine, but not so good if you have a real medical condition that must be treated. Then of course there was the guy who couldn't get cancer treatment because his local administrative body didn't cover it. And then we all know the problems with their dental care (doesn't exist). Canada? Waiting lists for months, even years. The ones who can come to the U.S. for treatment. Does the U.S. system need overhaul? Absolutely. But blindly doing it just like Europe will replace our cost problems with the time, coverage, and quality problems Europeans, Canadians, and Australians experience. Anyway, the restaurant should cover the tab even without having to go through a full lawsuit. Hopefully you can get this settled out of court. Don't pay for it yourself.

That sucks.... This is why I don't trust fast food.

I agree people in America go way overboard with the suing left and right... BUT I cannot believe food poisoning caused this much trouble. That's insane and it might not be a bad idea to sue...
