Today, I went to a restaurant with my boyfriend. After dessert, he went to the bathroom so I quickly called the waiter over and paid the bill, thinking it was a nice gesture. When he returned, he broke up with me for "emasculating" him. FML

Maybe I'm just a cheap ass but whenever someone pays for my food, I'm happy.

If he's that insecure about his manhood, then you shouldn't be too sad about losing him.

At least you saved the guy you like some money

He needs to sort his head out if something as small as that threatens his masculinity. Go get yourself a real man, OP. They're more fun :)

My bf is like this but he took his anger out on me sexually lol and I didn't mind at all :p

That sounds awesome. Can I join in on this?

That's way too much personal information for an FML.

None of us needed to know that. Incredibly disturbing.

Hey english major, i believe it should be for "a FML" you put for "an FML"

Um, no, it really shouldn't be. F is pronounced 'eff' so you need to use 'an'.

Profile disses: Shit just got personal. 50 - I have to say, though, if the "u" doesn't take "an" before the word in "university" because the pronounciation is different to other "u" sounds, why can't we have this sort of lenience on abbreviations, where the sound made by the "F" of FML merits "an"? The whole purpose of "an" and "a" is to make the link between each word as smooth as possible, so it is counter-intuitive to say "a FML" knowing full well that you rponounce each letter seperately. TL;DR: "An FML" should be right for the purposes of making the link between the words smooth, which is the whole point of the an/a system.

Hmm, let's see here about #22... No picture: check Private profile: check Disturbing comment: check It's obvious, 22 is trolling.

That's a crappy excuse to break up with someone

Okay then make him happy by shopping for $500 worth of clothes and him pay. I'm sure he won't mind being a man and buying you whatever you want :p

Damn he needs to chill out. It's dinner you bought not a freakin house. He must have been "feeling" emasculated before this incident. DO NOT stop being generous OP it's definitely his loss.

I understand his point, OP because my hubby wants to pay for everything even while we were dating, it is a man thing. But breaking up with you was a bit extreme. Find a better man OP

You see, by paying for him without giving him an opportunity to try, you demeaned him because he never had a chance to pay at all! How can he have self esteem in the knowledge you subverted his free will so? *sarcastic drawl end*

Who cares? What man wouldn't mind if the woman picks up the tab every once in a while? I mean it's not like she is making you her bitch and buying everything for you like a little baby. Some men need to just grow up and get with the times. You're a good girl, hell marry me? Lol jk :p
