Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents. They informed me they were lawyers throughout the meal, which explained the gorgeous house. My boyfriend excitedly told them I was promoted manager at my job. They asked where I work. I work at Burger King. FML

Today, I borrowed my mom’s BMW to impress my new girlfriend. I'd told her that I owned an accounting firm, so I had to look the part. Today was also the day someone decided to rear-end us. That someone happened to be my boss at Burger King. Let’s just say, the cat’s out of the bag and I’m single now. FML

Today, I was at working at Burger King as a cashier. A girl I met last night came in and said, "Aren't you that guy from last night?" Last night, I had told her I was going to medical school and was going to be a doctor in less than a year. FML

Today, I went over to my girlfriend's house for dinner. Her parents seemed upset, so I tried to lighten the mood by saying, "Hey, at least the weekend is coming up and you guys won't have to go to work." Apparently, they were upset because they both got laid off from their jobs today. FML

Today, my boyfriend proposed to me. My boss called me into her office and congratulated me, and spent almost half an hour asking me what our wedding plans were, where we might honeymoon, if we wanted kids, etc. She then followed this by suddenly remembering she had called me into the office to sack me. A job is a job. I'm a lowly cashier, but I'm trying to get a temp job as the manager at the kids clothing department at my store, while saving for my tuition. I'm going to be proud of myself if I get the temp job. I don't care what people think.

You have a job. Any work is noble work, and being a manager means you've been trusted with responsibility. Don't ever, ever let anyone look down on you when you have a job that pays you actual money. Stop acting like it's something to be embarrassed about. It most empatically is NOT.

I have two thoughts. The first is, how old are you? That will kind of determine how they took that comment. The second is, in this economy (at least in the US) they should clap that you have a job.
