Today, I went to the hospital due to vomiting and abdominal pain, and they decided to fit me with an IV drip. It took several tries by two different people to get the cannula in. I feel like a human pin-cushion. FML

To be honest, I'm not sure there are many people that do like needles...

As a nurse OP, we try to get it done as fast as we can. It sucks and sometimes we can't find a good vein to work with, but we aren't purposely trying to hurt you. Stay strong OP you can do it!

if a few pricks make you feel like a pin cushion pray you never need a EMG.

haha try needing an iv to get a MRI. it took 8 nurses 4 doctors and the anesthesiologist to get the iv in. I was the human pin cushion.

I'm pretty sure it's not a cannula? I think. Isn't a cannula the thing that they put in your nose to breathe? If someone knows please correct me.

Oh Nevermind. Seems I was half right. I guess the little IV tube and the nose tubes are both cannulas.

I had to get an arterial blood has done with a 1.5 inch needle. Took them eleven times to actually get it in correctly in my wrist, elbow and eventually, groin. I'm a pincushion

I was in hospital one time and was severely dehydrated due to vomiting. The doctor was struggling to get my IV in so asked for help. I had 2 doctors, 2 nurses and a student doctor, one at each limb and one at my stomach all sticking needles into me at the same time. It was horrible.

the exact same thing happened to me

I recently broke my wrist and they had to repetitively try and insert the needle into my vain because they kept missing it.

When I was pregnant it took 4 different people about 10 tried to get my IV in.

It's called a catheter not a cannula.
