If someone asks you out they should pay. End of story. If on the other hand they were not asking you out but asking you to go with them ie I will meet you there etc then you pay for yourself.

I think I can one-up you OP. I was asked on a date, my mom had to pick him up and he decided to bring his 5 year old nephew. We get there and he only pays for his ticket and for his nephew and he walks away. I make him pay for my ticket because I left my money at home. We watch the movie "The Karate Kid" and he is making childish comments the entire time and his nephew was an angel. -_- and he was 18 at the time.

I find dates more fun when you go splits like you buy tickets I buy snacks.......never assume with people now or maybe you should have asked

Even after being with my boyfriend, who throws a fit if I try to pay on a date, for over 2 months, I still bring money jut in case. It's common sense, OP.

First off you don't deserve that! That's rude on his part. And you should not go on another date with him unless he buys u flowers and takes you to an expensive restaurant (and pays). It's just a shame u didnt have money to get a cab ride home and escape from that jerk.
