Today, I went to the movies with my crush, who had asked me out on a date. Assuming he'd pay, I left my money at home. When the time came to buy the tickets, he only bought one for himself. FML

Contrary to popular belief it's ignorant to be so confident in this "rule" that you don't bring your own money, I believe it was totally deserved in this case. This doesn't mean I don't believe the guy should pay though so don't get confused.

If someone asks you out they should pay. End of story. If on the other hand they were not asking you out but asking you to go with them ie I will meet you there etc then you pay for yourself.

I think I can one-up you OP. I was asked on a date, my mom had to pick him up and he decided to bring his 5 year old nephew. We get there and he only pays for his ticket and for his nephew and he walks away. I make him pay for my ticket because I left my money at home. We watch the movie "The Karate Kid" and he is making childish comments the entire time and his nephew was an angel. -_- and he was 18 at the time.

Why would you just assume he would?...

It's called being a man, some people today make the mistake of thinking most people are decent human beings who were raised right. This site proves that's not the case.

It's called this is the 21st century, also it's called we're in a recession. Quit being sexist, Men shouldn't have to be obligated to pay, especially in times like these. And for the OP to EXPECT him to pay is down right disrespectful and rude. If the guy wants to pay as a nice gesture than fine, but he shouldn't have to pay.

I bet you'll have a great life with those ideas.

I find dates more fun when you go splits like you buy tickets I buy snacks.......never assume with people now or maybe you should have asked

Sounds like you're the asshole, OP, not your date.

You should really stop posting what you say to yourself while looking in the mirror.

...says the MOCKERYman. I'm not sure if you're even being serious or if you're simply mocking.

It's okay, Reggie. If MockeryMan and I ever go out on a date, I know I'm not paying for his shit.

Even after being with my boyfriend, who throws a fit if I try to pay on a date, for over 2 months, I still bring money jut in case. It's common sense, OP.

First off you don't deserve that! That's rude on his part. And you should not go on another date with him unless he buys u flowers and takes you to an expensive restaurant (and pays). It's just a shame u didnt have money to get a cab ride home and escape from that jerk.

if someone asks a person on a date they should pay. no matter if it is a guy or girl. whatta ********

Please go Dutch. Self respect, shouldn't lose it.
