um, super gross that you used his toothbrush @ 26 - i don't know of anyone who takes pills for oral herpes... usually, oral infections are from the type 1 herpes simplex virus, which is less of a nuisance in the first place, and i would think genital breakouts would be considerably more bothersome than oral ones, with either type of the virus. anyway, if he's got lots of prescription bottles, i'm guessing it's a type 2 genital infection (the type 1 ones have much less frequent outbreaks usually), but taking medications can reduce the chances of spreading it. so get yourself tested, and if you have it, then whatever. there's no cure, but it can't kill you, and you can control it very well with the proper medicinal regimen. be thankful you're not like the 1000s of other people out there who have it and have no idea, and maybe next time be a little more careful. and, for the record, condoms are not at all a reliable way to prevent spreading herpes. the virus is not spread by bodily fluids, it's spread by skin-to-skin contact, so unless the virus is shedding exclusively on the shaft of the penis or inside the ******, or you're using some new-fangled condom that covers the entire genital area, you're not totally covered. obviously, the more coverage you have, the better, so a condom is better than nothing. i'm just saying that you can't just slap on a rubber and be completely safe.
