Today, it's my birthday and I'd arranged a dinner party for 20 of my closest friends. I arrived at the restaurant, fully dressed and everything. When I got there, I thought everyone was ready to surprise me, but instead, nobody showed up. FML

Today, it's my birthday and I'd invited quite a lot of my friends to come round and have some fun. When I got home, I saw a few cars outside. It turned out to be for the neighbours. I waited and waited; none of my friends showed up. FML

Today, I had my 21st birthday party. My friends told me to have the party even though it had been 5 months since my actual 21st birthday. They asked me why I didn't have one originally and I jokingly told them it was because I didn't think anyone would come. Turned out nobody came after all. FML

Today, I celebrated my birthday with my friend who has the same birthday by going out to dinner with a bunch of our friends. The waiter brought out a cake for my friend but not for me. No one noticed my exclusion. I sang happy birthday on my birthday. FML

oh man poor you! especially at a restaurant sitting alone at a table meant for 20, that just makes it worse! I once did a birthday supper a few years back for about 20 people too and every came about 15 - 20 minutes late so I sat alone for 15 minutes thinking no one was going to come! even since then, I always make sure I meet up with one friend before so we can go to the restaurant together lolll

If you planned the party in less then 24-48 hrs, then maybe you were rushing and got the date or the time wrong or the date and time wrong altogether. Next time double check and make sure to send it out a week or two in advance.

Maybe these friends aren't as close as you thought? I have a handful of close friends (3?) and along with work and uni, that's really all I have time for. I couldn't imagine having 20 people I'm that close to.
