Today, it's my first wedding anniversary, or Paper anniversary. I got him airline tickets for an expensive weekend break for two in Berlin. He got me a toilet roll. FML

Might suck a bit, yeah, but you're going to Berlin anyway, so whatever. You expect tickets from him too or something?

Maybe he knew all along, and the toilet roll is to sort out whatever the airplane food does to him & her...

You're married, why would it matter who spent more, do you keep seperate funds? And it's a trip for two, I assuming you and he would be going together - the vacation is both of your anniversary presents, and it quite nice.

Come on, after 1 year you should really be expecting that kind of humour. And if you honestly didnt, then maybe you got together a bit soon there.

FHisL for having to follow some stupid anniversary tradition that he's obviously not into. Why do you expect so much? Just because you're married doesn't mean you're entitled to something expensive.

You obviously have never eaten german food you will greatful =]

Wow wtf, I'm from St Helens too! Near Haydock xD

I like #27. I have been dating the same girl for five years and she's always expecting some elaborate scheme for our anniversary... and were only dating. If they wouldn't expect so much they wouldn't be disappointed when we never meet the expectations... help me help you!!!

I don't think the OP expected something expensive or elaborate...just something better than a freaking toilet role. I never expect gifts from my husband, but IF he decides to get me something it's either something he knows I'd like or flowers...and either of those is better than toilet paper...lol...

#36 Not to get confrontational but perhaps rather than her lowering her standards you could rise to hers? OR once she does lower her standards you could rise to hers! That might be nice. Unless of course her standards are rediculously high and she's never happy with anything that you do..if that's the case maybe it's best to end it.
