Today, it was the second anniversary of the day I met my girlfriend. I had to go to work, but I set an engagement ring and a letter on my pillow for when she woke up, and left breakfast for her on the counter. When I got home, she and all of her things were gone. FML

Oh my god, please accept my sincerest condolences. I hope you find a real keeper.

Pretty shitty way to propose...

Did she eat the breakfast? Seriously though someone who does something that speacial and makes the best of a day you still had to work deserves someone equally special. Carry on, OP...they're not all like that.

Aww that's sad OP, I hope you'll find someone better

maybe she was kidnapped by ninjas or something..

But... Wouldn't 2 years be a bit too soon?

I'm so sorry to hear that. That was a nasty thing for her to do. She could have at least talked to you about it. People these days. Chin up mate, you didn't deserve that.

Ok, I have a few things I think. 1. I think I'd've rather had a proposal when I was awake and my partner was with me. 2. We don't know why she left. The proposal was a factor, but not necessarily the only thing. Fear of commitment, planning on leaving anyway, idk. It could've been the tipping point. 3. She clearly didn't want marriage at any rate, and OP should've talked to his gf at some point about the future. 4. Sorry you're in this situation OP. I hope you found out why and got this all settled.

I don't think the proposal had nothing to do with her moving out, i guess she was planning to do it days before. I know you might think is not possible she has been thinking about it and being with you everyday but how come you left everything behind for a "failed proposal" and I'm not saying you did it wrong but I have read some comments stating that you should had proposed in person. Anyway, my point is that this would happen eventually and though the timing is not specially good, you still know you tried honestly to do the right thing.
