Today, my 26th birthday party got busted by my parents due to them coming home early because of a flight cancellation. Everyone had to leave, but not before my mother made me go to my room. FML

Today, my parents and I went to the movies for my mom's birthday. After the movie, my mom and dad got into a fight, and left me at the movies. My cell phone was dead, and my house was about 12 miles away. They finally came and picked me up, hours later. FML

Today, I got into trouble for moving my chair around in class, which went on my permanent record, while other people were literally throwing things across the room and being loud but they didn't get in trouble. Tomorrow's my birthday and now my parents won't let me go out, even after I told them what happened. FML

Today, it was my 18th birthday and I was told I couldn't get the night off work because a party of 34 had booked into the restaurant. It turned out my family had come in to 'celebrate' by making me wait on them. They were a nightmare, thought it was hilarious to be difficult, and didn't tip. FML

Today, after my parents left for the weekend, my "friends" decided to throw a party at my house, despite my protests. In order to get them to leave, I called the police. I was the only one arrested, while they got warnings. FML

Today, it's my birthday. After a day out partying, I came home to find all my stuff smashed in the yard, even my 42" plasma TV. After asking my girlfriend what her problem was, she said a "slut" left a message on the machine stating how fun last night was. It turned out to be my mom. FML

Well, some people don't have parents with whom they can move in. They get roommates, take on odd jobs, sell anything valuable, use up their savings and some even sleep in their cars. It's a nice option to have to get back on your feet if it's available. But some people milk it well beyond any reasonable limit.

You're 26 years old. First off, you shouldn't be living with your parents any more, but if there is a legit reason you need to live with them right now, then at least ASK them if you can host a party in THEIR house. You aren't a teenager any more, you're a responsible adult, and I'm sure if you'd approached them like an adult, there would have been no problem.

I say YDI only because your 26 and you tried to hide having your party from your parents. There are a lot of other things you can hide at the age of 26. A drug habit perhaps, a stolen car, or a gay lover. But a party should not be on that list. Just apologize, they'll take you off punishment.
