I would be surprised if the judge doesn't throw out his case. What a dumbass. And pedo... Maybe make sure he doesn't see this though. Then you may have a problem. haha
All else aside, the guy "bragged" about his girlfriend's age- thus drawing attention to it. I see it this way: Mid-life-crisis guy is bragging about having a 19 year old gf. He's objectifying her, and setting the tone of the convo. OP chimes in with a clearly joking quip completely appropriate to the type of convo, and probably expected/got some light hearted chuckles. Midlife crisis guy wigs out ....bc he A)is defensive about being perceived as a pedo, and/or B) legitimately has pedophilic tendencies he wants to have remain his dirty little secret.
I say "B" is most likely the case. My boss is exactly 20 yrs older than his wife (he's 45/she's 25), they "met" on an adult online dating site...he brags about "how she lied about being older & him lying about being younger & that she was 17 when they met"..they now have 3 kids (the oldest is 4) & he's complained about how "all 3 times she got pregnant she said after sex...by the way, just so you know...I haven't been taking my birth control" His youngest (who's barely 1 now) friends will be asking her why her grandpa is at her graduation.
129- sounds like a delightful couple!! >
At least something does (unlike that guys penis) !!
Although it kinda is for a 50 something guy.
No. The age of the guy is irrelevant. No matter how old you are, a 19 year old is still 19, and 19 is still not a child's age. You could be 120, and the 19 year old would still be a legal adult.
I dated a guy for four years and when we started dating I was 15 and he was 18, but his friends called him pedo all the time and he actually found it very hurtful. We had the Romeo and Juliet law though so he wasn't.
Depends on where you are from but mostly it's ok to date 15 year olds if you are 18 because you're just 4 years older. It would be inappropriate if he was 25 or something.
High school age, I would agree that it's different. But the OP's coworker is 31 years older. When his GF was 15 like you were when starting to date your ex, he was 46. Not to say there is anything wrong with him dating a 19 year old, both are adults. But in our society people will make jokes and judge him fairly or not.
Romeo and Juliet is just to protect young people with age differences. It means that two people can have sex even if one is of legal age and the other isn't without legal repercussions as long as the age gap is <4 years or they're both underage.
How long ago did you start to date? If it's for seven years then he's a pedo XD
If anything, the coworker would be an ephebophile.
Fortunately, that's not what defamation is or how it works. Litigation is still a costly pain in the butt, but he doesn't have a case. Small consolation, I know.
And if OP counter sues, couldn't he reclaim legal fees for frivolous suit?
To be fair, a pedophile is someone who is attracted to people younger than 18, so...
No, a paedophile is someone who's attracted to pre-pubescent children. When paedophilia is being clinically diagnosed, I think the cut-off point is 13. If someone is attracted to children/teenagers older than 13 it technically isn't paedophilia, it's hebophilia or ehebophilia.
Not to mention the girlfriend is 19, so...
Yeah true 47 but pre-pubescent children are younger than 18, so it still fits what I said technically. That was my point, 53.
Except for all the children that hit puberty before 18. Yeah point totally still stands.
No it doesn't.
Pedophilia is used for children 13 or younger for medical diagnosis, so pedophile isn't the correct term.
I thiiink the correct term is 'ephebophile'

Well, if they've been dating very long, then technically you'd be correct!!
Are you sure it came across as joking? I know we all make mistakes and it happens to all of us - things can just come out wrong and you don't realize it. Either way, that's a bit ridiculous as a course of action for him to take.
