Today, we found out my mother-in-law faked her terminal cancer diagnosis to guilt us into getting pregnant, so she could meet her first grand baby “before it's too late.” In no way can we afford this baby, we are already poor, so this will ruin us financially, yet she’s perfectly healthy. FML

Today, my mother got heartburn. She claimed she only gets heartburn when she is near a pregnant woman. She threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't take a pregnancy test, despite there being no way I was pregnant. Turns out, I am pregnant, and my mother's ego has never been bigger. FML

Today, my mother topped someone's story of their child's problems by saying I'm on drugs. This resulted in people showing up to stage an intervention for me. She made the whole thing up and I've never used drugs, but no one believes me. FML

I faked a pregnancy once too when I got jealous of my wife. For some reason she never believed me, something about me not having the "proper internal plumbing to get pregnant" or some mumbo jumbo

It's kinda sick when parents feel in competition of their own children. Clearly these are people who should not be parents in the first place. Congrats on the babies OP. Try not to mind your mother, she just embarrassed herself.

She could always get attention by being the lovable grandmother. Instead she decided to pull an immature stunt that is likely not even within her capabilities at that age? At 55 most women have already gone through menopause. Did anyone honestly believe her? I would say FYL OP, but you have two new twins so I think that point would be moot :) congrats on the babies!

my mil tried to up stage me by suddenly 2 weeks before i was due starting a huge fight and trying to make herself the victim. fortunately my husband took my side and told her to shut up. some people just can't handle no longer being in the spot light
