I had a best friend like that. I liked this guy that I thought liked me back. He asked me out a few times, we went out, and I thought we had something nice going. I tell my best friend that I liked him and that he was so sweet on our dates, and told me he'd like to go out with me more often. Well, a week or two later, she tells me that she has this new boyfriend. It turns out that the guy I was dating is her new boyfriend. I tried to support their relationship, but I knew I'd be lying to myself, and I refused to be her friend knowing that she would do something to me like that, she may do it again. She knew I liked him and she knew that we were going on dates. Our friends split between us, my friends, thinking she was a ****, and her friends thinking I was taking it too seriously. I think they dated for a few months or so before they had sex and she broke up with him, hoping that I'd be her friend again now that he was out of the picture. She was even kind of, I guess I could say angry, when I got a boyfriend that I really liked and he really liked me and I refused to hang out with her. I never spoke to her or her ex again. I couldn't trust her around my boyfriend and he stayed away because he knew he did me wrong. That's why I'm glad that a lot of my girlfriends now either have boyfriends or aren't interested in the same type of men I'm interested in.
