Today, my boyfriend of a year and a half informed me that he had "accepted" my stomach, even though it didn't conform to his "preference" for a flat stomach. He then added that his acceptance doesn't extend to my "chunky thighs". FML

Part of me wonders if he was trying to make a very poorly phrased joke. I mean, O.P., you Irish are like us Scots. You have a pretty dark sense of humour. He's been in a relationship with you for over a year. If he was really so shallow that he couldn't accept your weight, I doubt it would have lasted as long as it has.

It is time for a new boyfriend. My guess is that he is wishing for you to break up with him (family and friends like you) so grant his wish. You deserve so much more than that.
