Today, my boyfriend of a year and a half informed me that he had "accepted" my stomach, even though it didn't conform to his "preference" for a flat stomach. He then added that his acceptance doesn't extend to my "chunky thighs". FML

Reality called to say that all this "accept yourself" stuff is great and all but it's bullshit. Accepting yourself is fine if you want to be alone, and if you think you can be happy alone, but if you want other people, well you're better off if you look good. While it is our personalities that truly matter our bodies are still how we communicate and interact together and in the end when it comes to finding a mate it is both important that there is both emotional and physical attraction.

I ain't changing myself for anyone and the right person wouldn't expect it. Here's this really crazy idea not everyone's idea of attractive is the same.

That's true, #86, and like you said, it's your personal decision to opt to keep your current body figure (regardless of shape) and wait for someone who will accept you how you currently are, in shape or not. But, it would be naive to think that there aren't traits that the majority of people find physically attractive, one of those being someone who is in shape. The exceptions are those who find larger males or females attractive, which is fine if you don't mind being the only one loving yourself or limiting your options of finding the "right guy." If that's you, then more power to you.
