It would be a "YDI", but truth is, if you're more worried about the tokenistic value of a ring than about the man who loves you enough to want to marry you, you "don't" deserve it, it being him. Ungrateful wench.
While I agree that most guys really don't have the money to drop on a really pricey ring, I don't think that using a ring pop was the most tasteful thing. It would be cute if he had a legit ring (hell, it doesn't even have to be a diamond these days) in his pocket for when she said yes, but not if he was being serious. As a girl I would much rather wait until my guy had enough money for the ring design that I wanted instead of being given a crappy little sterling silver ring. Funny story: I work in a jewelry store and I had a guy come running in one day and asked me if we had any diamond rings for $30 (umm, **** no we aren't Walmart). I told him no, so he then asked me if there was any ring in the store for that amount of money and I told him no. I finally asked him why he was in such a hurry and he told me "I proposed to my girlfriend last week without a ring and she's really pissed at me and I don't get paid until next week." Then why didn't you ******* wait to propose if you knew she was going to be pissed at you?!
Nothing wrong with Sterling silver, very snobby of you to suggest it is inferior. Not everyone can have gold, last time I wore gold earrings my ears went red and burned, and yes it was REAL gold not gold plated.
awww thats soo cute. if you really loved him you would've seen past the clichè "shiny diamond engagement ring" he's probably going to get you one when the money comes.. we're in a recession. get over yourself.
I would love this proposal! That's so cute. When you tell people you're engaged and they ask to see the ring you can say "oh... I ate it :)" lol that would make a great story. But seriously, it's not the price tag on the ring that counts, it's him!
I didn't bother voting - this is not a FYL, but you do not deserve that, because evidently you don't appreciate the fact he wants to marry you at all. If an expensive ring is so much more important then that, then I think you need to re-evaluate your relationship and self.
When I proposed, I didn't even have a ring, candy or otherwise. We've been happily married for two years. I guess the difference is that neither my spouse or I are completely shallow douchebags. :)
haha funny... he will get you a real ring... maybe he forgot itat home... #1 hahahah arent you glad he proposed though?
