put them both under rice and wait about a week. that usually fixes the problem, or helps. If not, throw his electronics in the pool.

You can see no problem whatsoever with this situation at all? Your limits of understanding of the FML are confined to the inconvenience of not having the devices, rather than the fact there is a dollar value associated with replacing them? I'm guessing you don't buy a lot of electronics with your own money...
