Today, my computer stopped working. Me, the technology challenged one, decided to do a system recovery on it hoping that I could make it better. Turns out, system recovery means deleting all the files off the computer including family photos, music and assignments and starting fresh. FML

YOU NEVER PUSH BUTTONS WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT IT WILL DO! Crap! That is one of the first lessons you learn as a child! Didn't your mom tell you not to touch things that you don't know about? Did you not pay attention?

When are you guys gonna figure out that YDI is more about karma than direct causality?

I bet you still don't back up your data either...

an eraser disk?? That proves you have NO idea what you are talking about.

system recovery is not starting fresh, system recovers restores any changes youve made to your computer to a day of your choosing. YOU reformatted your computer. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Reading this made me sad .. I kan only imgaine what ur going through dude **** that!

Reading this made ME sad... I can only imagine what your English teachers went through.

Usually your computer tells you if you're doing something drastic. In this case your computer didn't work and you must have used a CD. either way, you're told what you're doing. read instructions? YDI.

Not necessarily...my laptop has a hidden partition on the hard drive that is used to reformat the computer. I did make recovery discs from it, but I don't have to use them if the recovery partition is still functioning.... But you're right...once you started the process it CLEARLY states that you're about to wipe everything from your computer.

Good grief. Why'd you do something when you didn't even know what you were doing? System Restore even comments about backing stuff up because (and it tells you this) it does precisely what you just complained about. Can't you read? It's like when a cartoon character walks nonchalantly up to a big red button marked "CAUTION - SELF DESTRUCT" and presses it anyway. What'd you expect?

System Restore is a Windows feature that reverses select system changes such as driver upgrades and program installations. System Recovery I believe means reverting to the state your computer was when it was brand new. in part, it's your fault for messing with it when you know you're technologically challenged, so next time, ask someone who isn't. on the other hand, those two features are confusingly named.
